Seattle Library Book Sale!

We went to the book sale last night and found great stuff. I found two P.G. Wodehouse tomes, Very Good, Jeeves and Young Men in Spats both of which are from the 1930s and, I anticipate, totally hilarious. Also, Straight Man (Richard Russo), Women with Men (Richard Ford), The Reef (Edith Wharton), The Wings of the Dove (Henry James), and Indian Killer (Sherman Alexie). As a bonus, I also got a huge Oxford Atlas of the World published in 2000. All of these for $1 each!!

I have my lovely wife to thank for standing in line for hours beforehand so we could get in before all the good stuff was gone. Special thanks are in order since while she was undergoing this hardship, I was living it up at work writing tests, talking to the boss, conferring with underlings, and, of course, enjoying candy time.

I probably shouldn't have gotten the atlas, since now I'm spending a lot of time fantasizing about trips I want to take. My latest idea/obsession is to take a month or two and spend it in East Africa i.e. Ethiopia (I know someone in Addis Ababa), Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Just imagine the Serengeti, underground churches, Lake Victoria, fossils galore, meeting former high officials in the Ethiopian government (my friend's father) etc etc. Now that would be fun and something completely different. I would also like to go to London again and from there Paris, the South of France, and Italy. And Greece, and Turkey and ... you get the idea.

  1. You're going to visit Tiginesh? TAKE ME WITH YOU. And then we can go to Olduvai Gorge and play Leakey, and go to Axum and visit the Arc of the Covenant and those cool underground churches you mentioned and then we can go to Kenya, Tanzania, and maybe Mauritius?

Oh man. I'm all atwitter now.
