Big Bass News

I got new strings for my bass a while back and got my bow rehaired. This is very exciting and I'm sure my loyal readers are as thrilled as I am. As you can see there is a major change here, to wit: black hair on the bow! Black hair is reputed to give more bite when you start the stroke so clearly this is a good thing. No more namby pamby entrances; when I come in you're going to know it, yes indeed. Of course, it required about a ton of rosin to get it going so maybe that's what gives the additional bite. Anyway, together with the new strings my bass and I are ready for the new concert season, boy howdy.

  1. I hear that black bow hair is all the rage these days, especially the heavily rosined kind. So congratulations on being ahead of the curve!
